Good morning! It’s time for a new segment – hopefully a regular one – that sends you whipping around the internet reading great Cardinals’ articles over your Saturday morning joe (or cartoons, if that’s how you swing). Open a window, warm your coffee, and check out these discussion-worthy pieces by outstanding Cardinals writers. Enjoy!
After a rocky start to the season, the Cardinals’ bullpen has settled down and found some semblance of stability. So, if Chris Carpenter’s comeback bid is successful and lands him in the ‘pen as a relief pitcher…who do the Redbirds send back to Memphis? Bill Ivie explores this question in depth over at Yahoo! Sports.
Of course, Carpenter may find himself in the Cardinals’ starting rotation. High pitch counts, young arms, and Westbrook’s troublesome elbow – or even a Jaime Garcia shoulder relapse? – could create an opening for the Cardinals’ most dominant pitcher in the last decade. Click here to read about it all at Yahoo! Sports.
But hold on – Carp hasn’t even proven he can pitch effectively yet. Corey Rudd reminds us why it’s important to make sure Carpenter isn’t rushed back unless he can prove he’s 100% all Carp. The last thing the Redbirds need to do is upset a pitching staff on a roll to make room for an injured hurler. See what Rudd has to say about it by clicking here.
Ryan Jackson may be hitting his way into a St. Louis call-up sooner rather than later. If you haven’t heard, Jackson is hitting .385 as Memphis’ number 3 hitter…and pretty soon, that .250-.260 average by Pete Kozma is going to look real vulnerable. That’ll do it for today! Let’s hope this torrid pace by the St. Louis club continues…
GO CARDS!!!
