Welcome to this week’s installment of Kim’s Stuff! Just shy of two weeks ago, Deckacards went to St. Louis with a couple of friends for a “guy’s weekend” at Busch Stadium (I’m still waiting for a “girl’s weekend”, but whatever…). Obviously they picked that weekend so they could get a Musial harmonica and a replica jersey, but the guys lucked out when the Cardinals and Rawlings announced Friday’s game would be played with a special, one of a kind baseball stamped with an image of Stan Musial.
And then they found out the Cardinals’ team store would be selling those balls. Oh, boy…
See, the guys were already excited about buying a Stan Musial patch just like the players are wearing this year in honor of The Man. Now, they were going to add a baseball on top of it. No big deal, right? Sure. No problem. I mean, how much could a baseball and patch be, anyway.
How about $38 for the ball and a whopping $20 for the patch? Oh…excuse me…I mean $18 for the patch (the store lowered the price $2 literally two minutes before Deckacards walked in). Needless to say, that was more than we expected.
But…*sigh*…he had his heart set on both of them, so I said, “Sure…go ahead and buy ’em.” I’m sure in ten or twenty years, we’ll look back and say it was worth it. They certainly look and feel special when you hold them in your hands – especially when you know they were created for the sole purpose of honoring the greatest Cardinal of all time.
And that’s when I thought, we need to share this with our readers. So, today’s Kim’s Stuff post is devoted to the Stan Musial special edition baseball from Rawlings and the official patch worn by the team to commemorate The Man. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Kim’s Stuff post without a special twist, would it?
Don’t want to spend $38 for a ball or $18 for the patch? Don’t worry…if you’re fast enough, you won’t have to. Ebay is full of sellers who somehow got ahold of these rare items for less than retail, and they’re passing the savings on to you. Using the links below – and a few timely searches on Ebay yourself – you can get balls for as low as $25, just the patch for $12.95, or even both ball and patch for just $39.95 and free shipping. How’s that for a deal?
