We are LIVE at Busch Stadium in St. Louis as the Cardinals face the Padres in game three of a so far horrid…absolutely horrid series for the Redbirds. It’s UCB Weekend (#ucbweekend on Twitter), and bloggers have invaded the Legends Club section in right field. As “guests of the Cardinals,” all the buttons have been pushed, all the levers have been pulled.
We’ve thus far enjoyed a UCB “meet up” dinner at Pujols 5 on Saturday night, a special presentation/panel/event put together by the Cardinals for just our benefit, and now we are being treated to a Cards/Padres game with all the fixins. We’re talkin’ food…we’re talkin’ beer…we’re talkin’ cookies and brownies. The Cardinals organization has really rolled out the red carpet for their blogging fans today…and it is greatly appreciated.
Okay…the game…what? What do you mean…what headline? OH! My headline. Okay, okay…I should quickly explain (there is a game going on, you know). During the presentation event put on by the Cardinals, John Mozeliak (Cardinals GM) was kind enough to spend more than half an hour with the UCB bloggers. He gave a run down of the organization’s approach to the 2011 team and took question after question after question. He was really more than generous with his time. And I should say here that I am proud of my fellow UCB’ers. The quality of questions was better than expected.
Anyway…as Mo was leaving the conference area, he passed by our daughter and said, “Oh, gotta’ kiss the baby,” and rubbed the top of her head. I know, I know…we’re dorks…but you KNOW my wife and I looked at each other and said, “OMG! John Mozeliak touched our baby’s head!” Good times. Good times. I’m absolutely a John Mozeliak fan.
Okay, game’s gettin’ good. Jaime’s lookin’ strong. The Cards have a 1-0 lead. Daniel Descalso just made a HELLUVA grab to single-handedly end a bases loaded threat and end the inning. Good game, all…
Oh…and did I mention my daughter got an Ozzie teddy bear from Terry on the Cardinals’ staff?!
I can’t tell you how much we’ve enjoyed today.
Okay, okay…fans who don’t watch the game annoy me…so…BACK TO THE GAME!!!
GO CARDS!!!

Does it kind of make you feel like your baby has been “blessed”?

Funny thing…at Cards Caravan in Joplin, MO this year, Jaime Garcia and Shelby Miller were practically “smitten” with her…my wife was quick to point out that both played with her and “touched her cheek and hand”…she’s thinking Emma is a good luck charm (see: First 2011 Win Came with Emma in Attendance at Busch Stadium)
